Faculty and administrator roles in 2023

Back in November, I posted info from eCampusNews about students we might have in 10 years. The same publication now has predictions regarding faculty and HE administrators. Some highlights:

There will be more online programs and instructors might need to record and/or deliver their lectures online; instructors will be more involved in design and development of instruction rather than its delivery; conceptually online lectures will be similar to recorded music (interesting comparison by Bill Gates!), faculty will have massive amounts of data, learning analytics, and tools available to them, trivial tasks of simple quizzes and grading will be automated (Alleluia!).

As for the University administrators their success will depend on their ability and success to meed faculty demands, ever changing student demographics, and fundraising.  And convincing faculty to embrace technological changes was listed as one of the challenges (I would like to hope we would overcome it by that time!!!). And there is also a prediction that University leaders might need to act more like business leaders.

We shall see!
